Zoho Projects: Introducing BugTracker's latest version

Zoho Projects: Introducing BugTracker's latest version

When developers find a bug, the process grinds to a halt. They stop coding, navigate to the issue tracking software, and endure through an endless barrage of windows. What was a seamless flow of creation a couple of minutes before suddenly becomes a choreographed routine of frustration.

While we cannot magically make all bugs disappear, we have worked to make sure that you don't have to go through a herculean effort just to log and track your bugs.

With BugTracker's new Sheet view, the user interface looks and behaves like a spreadsheet, ensuring that logging, collaborating on, and resolving bugs is as simple as it gets.

Previously, you had to click on Submit Bug, fill in the bug details in a separate pop-up, and enter all the details there. Now, all you need to do is fill out the details in the Sheet view.

This Sheet view is not limited to the bugs module, but is pervasive all through the application, including the Projects, Milestones, and Timesheet modules.

Couple this with the previously existing keyboard shortcuts, and you can just rely on your keyboard (no need for the mouse) for the entire process.

Ban inefficiencies with Kanban

The Kanban view gets a major upgrade as well. You can now freely make changes, edit project details, include comments, attachments, and much more right from the Kanban view.

This will enhance your collaboration while helping you focus on those items that need your highest attention. You can also see how much work you have on your plate, all from the same window. There's no need to juggle between different windows, which removes another layer of friction that users often face when using bug tracking software.

Additionally, you can clone, follow, move, or delete issues and bugs from the Kanban view with a single right click.

Enhanced user experience

The user experience updates don't stop there. We have also made some changes to reduce the number of windows you need to navigate through while tracking a bug.

Previously, for customizing layouts, columns, or adding custom fields, you had to visit the settings menu, find the associated layout, and make changes there. That is not the case anymore. Now, you can directly perform each of these actions from the Sheet view.

The option to add resolutions has also been enhanced. In the Issue details page, the first thing that you will see on the top-right corner is a handy new way to add resolutions to bugs that you've logged. Here, you can make changes to the status of an issue, as well as add comments about bug fixes.

The comment pop-up is also smarter. It now supports formatting and inline images (as pictures are indeed worth a thousand words) to enable seamless collaboration and communication. Once you've added your comments and hit the Resolve button, the status of the issue is updated, and a green "Resolved" check mark appears on the top of your screen.

Additional custom field types

With the latest update, you are no longer limited to just six types of custom fields when you want to create your own layout. We have worked to add 10 new types, including Multi-select, Percentage, Date & Time, and checkboxes.

This should provide more ways for you to customize the tool, and use it just the way you want.

Collaborate seamlessly with Whiteboards

Utilizing whiteboards for collaboration allows teams to work together seamlessly, whether in person or remotely. It provides a visual platform for brainstorming, sharing ideas, and organizing thoughts in a way that is easily accessible to all team members. With the ability to draw, write, and erase in real-time, whiteboards promote creativity, communication, and productivity within a team.

Now, Whiteboard will be enabled by default, and you can start using it in any field that accepts attachments. From simple flowcharts, to rough sketches of ideas - you can collaborate better than ever before.
