Zoho Desk: Now Supports Multi-Year Holiday Planning & Multiple Holiday Lists

Managing support timings and SLAs becomes messy when holidays keep changing every year.
Many businesses either forget to update the calendar or update it late, and that leads to wrong response times and inaccurate working hours.

Zoho has now simplified this process by improving holiday planning inside Zoho Desk.


Why was this update needed?  

Earlier, companies used a recurring holiday list.

That worked fine for fixed-date holidays like:

  • Christmas

  • New Year

But some holidays change every year (like festivals or religious events).
Those had to be manually edited every single year.

Result:

  • Incorrect business hours

  • Wrong SLA calculations

  • Tickets marked overdue even during holidays

What’s new?  


1) Year-Specific Holiday Lists  

Now you can create holiday calendars for the current year and the next two years in advance.

This means:

  • You can add changing-date holidays beforehand

  • No need to edit the calendar every year

  • Your system automatically respects the correct holiday dates

Example: If a festival falls on a different date each year, you simply define it once for upcoming years and you’re done.


Multiple holiday lists in business hours

Until now, only one holiday list could be associated with your business hours, up to two holiday lists can be mapped, giving you greater flexibility to manage multiple holiday calendars with ease.

For example, a global organization with teams in India may observe both company-wide holidays and regional holidays such as state festivals. By associating two holiday lists with a single set of business hours, businesses can ensure accurate working hours across regions.
